Perigee Fund

Program Officer

Seattle, WA (Hybrid)

Summary

Perigee Fund is a Seattle-based national philanthropy working to transform how families’ mental health and well-being are supported during pregnancy and early childhood. We believe that mental health begins before birth and that the earliest relationships between babies and their caregivers help shape lifelong health. Our name reflects this belief. “Perigee” is the point when the moon is closest to Earth, symbolizing closeness, connection, and the power of relationships. For babies and young children, safe and nurturing relationships create a secure foundation from which they can grow, explore, and develop trust in the world around them. These relationships are also profoundly influenced by the mental health, stability, and support of the adults who care for them. Maternal and infant mental health are not separate concerns; they develop together.

Perigee seeks a systems change-focused Program Officer to complete our outstanding Program Team of six. The Program Officer will lead in a few areas and partner in many areas. Reporting to the Senior Director of Programs, the Program Officer will work with all members of the Program Team and contribute to a collaborative culture. Additionally, all Program Team members work in partnership to greater and lesser degrees, with grant and contract management staff, the communications director, and Perigee’s policy consultants.

The Program Officer’s portfolio will consist of both inherited projects and grants, day to day management of grants cultivated by Perigee leadership team members, as well as opportunities to develop or implement new grant relationships that advance Perigee’s strategic framework. The portfolio is approximately one third Washington state-based and two thirds national. This role is both strategic and hands-on. Perigee’s strategic framework sets the guardrails. Within it, the program officer decides how to move strategy and funding forward, working with colleagues and partners to design the approach and identify the levers for change, and then carries the work through to implementation. The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $165,000.
