Detroit, Michigan

Summary
Co.act Detroit, a place-based nonprofit intermediary at the intersections of community, nonprofit, and philanthropic leadership in Detroit, Michigan is seeking nominations and applications for its next Executive Director. The organization brings together funders, investors, practitioners, nonprofits, and community leaders in collective support of community success and resiliency. As a catalyst and connector with tools and programs that help nonprofits sustain and build their capacity, Co.act transcends sector power dynamics to ensure community voice is ever-present in decision making. Now in its sixth year of operations, Co.act has fostered the relationships and built the conditions for creative solutions to sector challenges and, in doing so, has provided essential technical support to organizations serving community need and increased wellness for community and nonprofit leaders across Southeast Michigan’s diverse 7-county region.
Co.act’s next visionary Executive Director will lead the organization through an exciting period of operational evolution as it transitions from a subsidiary program of a partner organization to fiscal sponsorship with the Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA) and activates its own 501c3 status. This step toward greater operational and financial independence will enhance Co.act’s ability to extend and expand its purpose and its model across the Detroit region during this particularly dynamic time for the sector and far into the future.
The ideal candidate for Executive Director will bring vision, energy, humility, and proven commitment to collective impact and possess successful experience in nonprofit leadership including team management, fiscal management, and community engagement. Reporting to Co.act’s Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be an effective fundraiser, champion, and connector with demonstrated ability to articulate the essential value of Co.act services and contributions to Southeast Michigan and lift up the relevance of its voice across the sector.
